General Information

All of our dogs are registered with the AKC and therefore all the puppies can be as well.
This cost is the new owners responsibility.
New puppies will have their first puppy shots, tails docked and dew claws removed.
We do not crop ears on our puppies.
Socializing your puppy is very important.   Training, trust, and mutual respect must be developed at a very early age and starts when you first bring your new puppy home.
Rewarding (positive reinforcement) your puppy for good behavior is much more effective training than negative discipline.
New puppies should never be locked in crates for extended periods of time.
New puppies are babies, they need patience and love.

Q:   What is a Miniature Schnauzer?
A:   The breed originated in Germany and was bred for ratting, family pet and as a guard dog but not a fighter.   Although they make an excellent guard dog, as the saying goes, "they are lovers, not fighters", or biters.   They have strong tendencies to be a biteless alarm.   This is due to breeding and their small stature.   They are sweet, loving, loyal, and highly intelligent. They are atheltic and do well on agility courses because they can and do learn quickly.

Q:   How specifically are Miniature Schnauzers considered intelligent?
A:   Many dogs are smart but Miniature Schnauzers seem to have the ability to read the emotions of their owners.   They tend to know when they can get away with the stubborn act and play on the emotions of their owners.   And they do love to play.

Q:   What type of temperment do Miniature Schnauzers have?
A:   They are very social and love attention.   Miniature Schnauzers make wonderful family pets.   As with all pets, training and socializing is important at a young age.   Miniature Schnauzers love a warm lap and quiet time just as much as they love to play and please their owners.   To get attention they may just put their paw on your leg just to let you know your friend is close if you decide that you need a bit of love.   They are not overly intrusive on your space but they will let you know they are around and expect to be acknowledged.

Q:   What grooming is needed for Miniature Schnauzers?
A:   They are considered a non - shedding breed.   Although all dogs shed slightly, the amount that Miniature Schnauzers shed, is very minimal.   Miniature Schnauzers need to be groomed and have their hair cut periodically.   Because they do not shed they are less apt to cause allergies.

Q:   How big do the Miniature Schnaunzer dogs get?
A:   Miniature Schnaunzers are considered lap dogs.   The sizes can range, but our Schnauzers are 12"-14" tall.   Weight is approximately 12-16 pounds.   Generally the adults are the same length as they are tall at the withers.   This gives them an attractive square look that is very appealing.

Q:   Which makes a better pet, a male or female?
A:   The decision to purchase a male or female hinges on answering many questions.   We have a nice critque that will describe in detail the personalities of our dogs for you.   To help answer this question we like to talk to the prospective new owners and will send this to you via email at your request.
